Shiva Panchakshara Stotram in Sanskrit with English Translation

नागेन्द्रहाराय त्रिलोचनाय
भस्माङ्गरागाय महेश्वराय ।
नित्याय शुद्धाय दिगम्बराय
तस्मै नकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥१॥

Salutations to Lord Shiva, who wears the king of serpents as His garland, who has three eyes, who is smeared with sacred ash, who is the supreme God, eternal, pure, and who wears the directions as His attire. To Him, represented by the syllable Na (न), I bow down.

मन्दाकिनीसलिलचन्दनचर्चिताय
नन्दीश्वरप्रमथनाथमहेश्वराय ।
मन्दारपुष्पबहुपुष्पसुपूजिताय
तस्मै मकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥२॥

Salutations to Lord Shiva, who is anointed with the holy waters of the Ganga and sandal paste, who is worshipped by Nandi and the other attendants, and by many kinds of flowers like the Mandara. To Him, represented by the syllable Ma (म), I bow down.

शिवाय गौरीवदनाब्जवृन्द-
सूर्याय दक्षाध्वरनाशकाय ।
श्रीनीलकण्ठाय वृषध्वजाय
तस्मै शिकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥३॥

Salutations to Lord Shiva, who is auspiciousness itself, who shines like the sun on the face of Goddess Parvati, who destroyed Daksha’s sacrifice, who has a blue throat, and who has the bull as His emblem. To Him, represented by the syllable Śi (शि), I bow down.

वशिष्ठकुम्भोद्भवगौतमादि-
मुन्यर्क्षदेवार्चितशेखराय ।
चन्द्रार्कवैश्वानरलोचनाय
तस्मै वकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥४॥

Salutations to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped by sages like Vasishtha, Agastya, and Gautama, and by the gods; who has the moon, sun, and fire as His eyes. To Him, represented by the syllable Va (व), I bow down.

यज्ञस्वरूपाय जटाधराय
पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय ।
दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय
तस्मै यकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥५॥

Salutations to Lord Shiva, who is the very form of sacrifice, who has matted hair, who holds the Pinaka bow in His hand, who is eternal, divine, and the supreme Lord, and who wears the directions as His garment. To Him, represented by the syllable Ya (य), I bow down.
